About this Blog

PROMISE: Maryland's Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) sponsors a variety of community building activities to enhance the quality of life for grad students at UMBC, UM Baltimore, and UM College Park. This blog will chronicle some of those activities.

This blog initially began as a place to celebrate the activities of the PROMISE retreat. Over time, students have started to continue to contribute content based on their experiences, including both joys and frustrations. But overall, there is a sense of overcoming and persevering to achieve goals.

The photos in the banner above represent Community Building Retreats of the past. The leftmost photo was taken after an outdoor teambuilding exercise at the PROMISE retreat at Coolfoont in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia (2006). The three photos on the right represent the ropes course developed by Craig Imler and our "Outward Bound-Trained Outdoors Activities Team" at the PROMISE Retreat at RockyGap in Cumberland, Maryland (2007).
